Vincent Vasconez
The Newest addition to OchoPlacas Tattoos, Vincent Vasconez’ walked his way into becoming an accomplished and successful tattoo artist. started with his natural affinity for illustrating. Shop owner Jose Carrera first noticed the young talent by his work on the city streets, where Vasconez would graffit his way to fame . It’s not until years later that Mr.Carrera and Young Vasconez would meet in person, appropriating a mentor ship role by encouraging him to focus on his craft and experiment with various mediums.
Raised in Miami , Vasconez born May-7th-1983...dreamed of being an architect yet quickly became re-broken in by graffiti culture. He attended the Miami International School of Arts and Design-Receiving most honorable mention and best known amongst artists for his “bombing” and “hand style.” Equally influenced by the works of Salvador Dali and local graffiti crews including MGK, MSG, TSC and MTK, Vasconez’ range of style and technical acumen stems from his deep appreciation of art. It is ultimately Carrera, however, that inspired the largest change in his life. Wich is just one of the many reasons why the passing away of "Jose Carrera"- (Sep.6th-2009)- was and will always be a huge nail in the heart for "Vasconez...It has been quoted...by Vasconez, Jose was like the dad i did not know and the brother that always was but most importantly...he gave birth to who I am, I have never cared about one mans opinion as much as I did for his.
“I was able to relate to Jose because he was an old school writer and because I admired his work as a tattoo artist,” said Vasconez. “It’s funny, I didn’t start tattooing until three years after Jose and I met, but along with developing a new career, I found a passion for the art, always pushing my limits and working with my clients to materialize their vision.” Vasconez is also a family man, always working diligently to provide the best for his daughter. A driven artist, he’s earned his part of the castle at the Calle Ocho parlor and has even been known to quote Lion King: “Do what you’re trained to do and earn your crown in the circle [of OchoPlacas].”
